Raised Garden Beds project

Next >

The Raised Garden Beds project was established in 2011 to look at a way to provide the elderly the ability to keep gardening in their own homes when their circumstances did not allow. A raised garden bed was prototyped using recycled printer's pallets which allowed a working height of just over 1.2 metres. A surround is also provided which allows the user to hold on or keep gardening tools at working height whilst working in the garden bed.

The protoypes were rolled out to community centres around Hobsons Bay were they were well recieved. They were then trialled in the homes of selected residents before the project was officially launched in August 2013 and taken on board by Hobsons Bay City Council as an ongoing project.
